Up To Speed: March 15, 2012

A lot has happened in the world of Need for Speed in days passed. In this article we would like to get our readers up to speed with all the latest happenings in all things NFS.

First of all, several new cars are available for Need for Speed: World. These include:

  • Aston Martin DBS
  • Chevrolet Camaro ZL-1
  • Ford GT40 Mk.1
  • Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 Polizia
  • Lamborghini Miura SV
  • Toyota MR2 “Gymkhana”

Many others are now available and many more are yet to be unveiled, so head to the Car Dealer today to see them all!

As we covered recently, while World gets fresh metal every day, with each batch of new cars old ones must be retired. As such, these cars have been retired from the Car Dealer:

  • Ford Mustang RTR-X
  • BMW M3 E92
  • Lotus Exige
  • Lotus Exige (Art Director)

Many other things continue to happen in World as well. Many cars we couldn’t mention in this one post were released, while many others enter temporary retirement. EA made several updates, and Koenigsegg teased the 2013 Agera. Now 11 million players populate the streets of NFS World, and as a result the devs started cracking down on hackers and anyone else that jeopardizes a positive experience for others.

In amongst all of the NFS World news, room remains for The Run. EA released the Heroes and Villains DLC on the XBOX 360, and creatures of legend lurk for those searching for them. Have you spotted Nessy yet? Or perhaps that elusive Sasquatch? Another Time Attack Community Challenge commenced recently, so try your luck at being the real Ryan Cooper once more.

Much news continues to unfold daily in the realm of Need for Speed, and more is yet to come. Stay tuned for the latest in all things NFS.

The seventh Need for Speed The Run Time Attack Community Challenge is upon us! This week, NFSDrew has set down another blistering time on the Outrun even in the Nevada Dreams Challenge Series, and so once again it is up to you to see if you have the skill to show NFSDrew who is the real Street King. His time is a scorching 1:25.03, so it’ll take a real Ryan Cooper to trounce this colossal time.

If you so happen to be that real Ryan Cooper, please stand up, and follow these steps to enter:

1. Beat NFSDrew’s stellar time in the same challenge series event,

2. Snap a screencap of your final race time on the post-race screen,

3. Twitpic it to @NeedForSpeed with the hashtag of #NFSTheRunTimeAttack.

We will also take video entries, just be sure to upload them to YouTube as a video response to the video seen above. At the end of the week, there will be a random drawing from the pool of entries, and one lucky winner will receive a very special prize from the Need for Speed swag cabinet!

There are just a few rules for you to abide by:

-There are no regional restrictions for this competition. Anyone, anywhere can enter.

-This competition is not platform-restricted. Unless you are somehow playing on a Sega Saturn, in which case, join the 21st century.

-You can use any car available in the above Challenge Series event.

-Your twitpic or video must clearly show your race time. If it does not, it is not a valid entry.

-If you do choose to enter via Youtube video, upload it as a video response to the video seen above.

-Use of cheat programs and trainers is not only lame, but also grounds for a disqualification.

-Any one entrant can only win one week in a row. If you win this week, you are no longer eligible to win next week.

Comply with these rules, and you could very well win an awesome prize! Good luck and bring on the speed!

World: Breaking Ground in Tier 1

The Solstice GXP brought Pontiac into an all-new market sector at the Detroit International Auto Show in 2005. GM Vice Chairman and pioneer Bob Lutz moved bureaucratic mountains when he pushed GM designers and engineers to get the Solstice GXP concept vehicle built and ready in an impossibly short four months.

The Solstice GXP is powered by a 260-horsepower, turbocharged Ecotec engine that any true car enthusiast would love! A dual-scroll turbocharger outfitted with a lightweight turbine provides a nearly immediate boost in power, which is perfect for getting that extra edge off the starting grid.

This Tier 1 cruise missile certainly delivers in spades and will challenge the best in its class. Get your very own Pontiac Solstice GXP at the Car Dealer today and experience what driving nirvana feels like!

World: The AWD Retro Racer Has Returned!

The World Rally Championship is one of the most grueling racing disciplines in the world. Few cars have proven themselves to be tough enough for the daunting challenge of rally racing. Few have done so quite like the Lancia Delta did.

The rally-spec Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione took 46 podium finishes between 1987 and 1992, and won the Constructors’ Championship all 6 years it competed. By the time it hit the streets, it had already amassed an unprecedented pedigree in the WRC which few of its contemporaries could compete with. Featuring a widened track and rally-tested four-wheel drive, this rally car for the road utilizes every last bit of its turbocharged engine with every inch of rubber it has on it. Power comes from a beefy 2-liter turbocharged four-banger which produced 210 horsepower, and was the same engine that powered the WRC version.

This customized “Rally” version exhibits all of the fun of getting down and dirty! It also sports a rally-like tricolor stripe that flaunts its Italian heritage, while the rest of the livery pays homage to its rich racing history. Featuring a widened track width and bodywork, this Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione is a blast in the mud and muck, and a truly exhilarating experience on the track!

This is how any decorated rally racer lives to be: covered in mud! Do not hesitate, get your mud thrashing rally racer in the Car Dealer today!
